What free actually means

FlashCard AI gives you 1AI generation a day, free, permanently — plus unlimited reviewing of every deck you own, no account, and no card details. Premium removes the daily cap for people generating decks in bulk. That's the whole model, and it's on this page rather than three taps into a checkout screen.

Why one generation a day and not none

Every AI generation costs real money to run. Apps in this category resolve that in one of three ways: a hard trial that expires, a sign-up wall that turns you into a mailing list, or a subscription before you've seen the product work. We picked a fourth — a daily allowance that never runs out.

It has an accidental benefit. One deck a day, reviewed, is a better study pattern than six decks on Sunday that you never open again. The students who get the most out of spaced repetition are the ones with small decks and a daily habit, which is roughly what the free tier pushes you towards. See how the scheduling works for why volume is the usual way people fail at this.

Who should upgrade — and who shouldn't

Upgrade ifyou're building decks across a whole syllabus in concentrated sessions: a med student working through a module, someone converting a year of NCERT chapters before an exam, a teacher making decks for a class.

Don't bother ifyou're studying one subject at a normal pace. One deck a day, kept up, is more material than most people can actually review. We'd rather say that here than sell you something you won't use.

What the free tier is not

It isn't a seven-day trial, it doesn't need a card on file, and it doesn't lock your existing decks behind a paywall later. If you never pay, you keep 1 generation a day and unlimited reviewing indefinitely.

Ads, plainly

The free tier carries ads. That's what funds the daily AI generations for people who never pay a penny.

What we do with your data

Your decks are stored on your device. When you generate cards, the text or image you provide is sent to our AI provider so it can write them — that's the whole data flow, and the privacy page spells it out including what the ad SDK sees.

Pricing questions

Is FlashCard AI free?
Yes, to start, and the free tier doesn't expire. You get 1 AI generation every day plus unlimited reviewing of the decks you've already built, supported by ads. Premium exists for people who want to build many decks in one sitting.
What counts as one generation?
One deck built from one source — a PDF, a photo, a block of pasted notes, or a topic you type in. Reviewing, editing, deleting and re-studying decks you already have never counts against the limit.
What happens when I hit the daily limit?
Nothing stops working. Every deck you already own stays fully usable, online and off. You simply can't generate a new one until the next day, unless you upgrade.
Do I need an account or a credit card to use the free tier?
No. There's no sign-up, no email address, and no payment details. Install it and start.
Does the free version have ads?
Yes. The free tier is ad-supported — that's how the AI generations are paid for.
Can I keep my decks if I stop paying?
Yes. Your decks are stored on your device, not in an account we control. Downgrading returns you to the daily generation limit; it doesn't take your existing decks away.
