Privacy policy

The short version: your flashcard decks are stored on your phone, not on our servers. When you generate cards, the text or image you provide is sent to our third-party AI provider so it can write them. The free tier shows ads, and the ad software sees a device advertising identifier. That is the entire data flow.

In one paragraph

FlashCard AI has no user accounts and no cloud sync. We do not ask for your name, email or phone number. The only content that leaves your device is the material you deliberately submit for card generation, plus the standard advertising and purchase data that Google Play and our advertising partner handle.

Who we are

FlashCard AI is published by BytesFlux. For any privacy question, or to request deletion of anything described below, email hello@bytesflux.com.

What stays on your device

  • Every flashcard and deck you create or generate.
  • Your review history, scheduling data, streaks and mastery scores.
  • Your app settings.

None of this is uploaded to us. It also means we cannot recover it for you — if you uninstall the app or lose the device, the decks go with it.

What is sent off the device, and when

AI card generation

When you ask the app to build a deck, the material you supply — the topic you typed, the notes you pasted, the text of the PDF you imported, or the photo you captured — is transmitted to our third-party AI provider for processing. The provider returns the generated cards, which are then stored on your device.

Only the material you submit for that specific generation is sent. Your existing decks, your review history and the rest of your library are not.

Do not submit material you are not comfortable sending to a third-party AI service. In practical terms: study notes, textbook pages and lecture slides are fine; medical records, someone else's personal data and confidential documents are not.

Advertising

The free tier is ad-supported. our advertising partnermay collect a device advertising identifier, coarse device and app information, and interaction data in order to serve and measure ads. This is standard mobile advertising behaviour and is governed by that partner's own privacy policy. Android lets you reset or delete your advertising ID, and opt out of ad personalisation, in your device settings.

Purchases

Premium is sold through Google Play. Google processes the payment and tells the app whether an entitlement is active. We never see or store your payment details.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your data.
  • We do not require or collect an email address, name or phone number.
  • We do not upload your decks or review history.
  • We do not build advertising profiles from the content of your study material.

Children

FlashCard AI is a general-audience study tool and is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through the app, contact us at hello@bytesflux.com and we will address it.

AI-generated content

Cards are written by an AI model and can be wrong. Check anything that matters against your source material — this is a study aid, not an authority. If a generation produces offensive or harmful output, report it from inside the app or email us so we can act on it.

Your rights

Because we hold no account and no server-side copy of your library, most data requests resolve on your own device: deleting a deck deletes it, and uninstalling the app removes everything the app stored. For anything held by our third-party AI provider, our advertising partner or Google Play, contact us and we will help you route the request.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it and the updated version appears here before it takes effect in the app.
